SP Marni Sy's Valedictory Address

RC CEPZ 17th Induction & Handover Ceremonies

August 29, 2008, CEZIA Club House, Cavite Economic Zone

District Governor Josie, my Sharing Governor, IPDG Paco, District Officers, members of the Rotary Club of CEPZ, Sharing Presidents, Legacy Presidents, ladies and gentlemen, good evening.

We all know the Seven Wonders of the World are man made or built such as: Egypt’s Great Pyramids, Taj Mahal, Grand Canyon, Panama Canal, Empire State building, St. Peter’s Basilica, and China’s Great Wall.  Along the path of my Presidency, I found out my own seven wonders of the world, and they are:

  1. To be able to see – the wonderful world and people of Rotary. And I really thank the members of the Rotary Club CEPZ for giving me this opportunity.

  2. To be able to hear – giving me the best opportunity to hear and learn more without paying tuition fees at all of what Rotary has to offer.  That is why I always tell PP Gabe, “ano ba yan, monthly nalang ang graduation ko.”

  3. To be able to touch – a great chance to touch the lives of other people in one way or another especially to our chosen people who have benefited from our projects.

  4. To be able to feel – how lucky and blessed I am while serving other people.

  5. To be able to laugh – at my mistakes and even the chance to correct them.  To be able to laugh while mingling with people within and outside Rotary world, especially during fellowships with some of our Club’s members, my classmates and District Officers where I can laugh my heart out, thus gaining more friends through the year.

  6. To be able to love – sincerely of what I did, am doing and will be doing for others.

  7. Last but not the least, God’s amazing love for giving me a family who has been very supportive of what I love and believe in.

With that, am proud to say, am now in line with the many excellent Presidents of our Club, the Rotary Club of Cavite Export Processing Zone.  Thank you for sharing with me the priceless joy and happiness you have once experienced.  Thank you for teaching me to have perseverance and love in everything I do.  To all my classmates, thank you for the love and trust you have given me all this time.  You have made my Rotary life so much fun.

For life is an ECHO. It gives you back everything you say or do.

Our life is simply a reflection of our actions. If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart.

If you want people to respect you, respect them.

This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life. Life will give you back everything you have given to it.

Your Life is not a Coincidence.

It's a Reflection of You!

As I turn over tonight the gavel to our Legacy President Roland, I wish to congratulate you for the courage of accepting this challenging yet enjoyable position.  Trust me, you will surely say the same thing soon. Just remember what Joan Paquette once said,

"Life is like a game of golf,

It starts with small beginnings,

And some folks play for fun and laughs,

And some folks play for winnings.

But one thing’s true of either goal,

The yardstick is the same:

In life – and golf – what matters most

Is how you play the game.

Thank you and good evening once again.
