Ronilo "Nilo" Nepomuceno
Dear fellow Rotarians,
For the last two weeks, my message had ended by reminding you of your membership dues and the Centennial Car Raffle tickets. For a change, I would like to start with those reminders. Fortunately, the District has extended the deadline of payment of the 2nd Semester Semi-Annual Report on February 7, 2005, our Area Meeting. So please remit your payment for the membership dues on or before the said date. For the Centennial Car Raffle tickets, please be reminded that the draw date will be on February 23, 2005; further, be reminded that our club won the grand prize last year, it was not the holder of the ticket because it was remained unpaid during the draw date; lightning may strike twice.
My special thank to our Sgt. at Arms Dick Maza for sponsoring the feeding last Friday, January 28, 2005 and to IPP Gabe Trias and Dir./PN Amy Llave for assisting the 250 malnourished children. Already in its 22nd week, this project will hopefully lasts until the end of the school year.
I thought we shall already relax in the second semester, but also last Friday, we had sponsored the “Emergency Preparedness Seminar” in cooperation with CEZ Fire and Industrial Safety Division. I would like to thank our resource speaker, Mr. Elmer Veluz, a well-known safety practitioner who headed several safety organizations and an accredited Safety Consultant by the Bureau of Working Conditions, who offered his services for free. He taught several ways in preparing and responding to natural and man made calamities/disasters such as fire, storm, earthquake etc. There were 98 participants from the different companies in Cavite Economic Zone.
So it is not really time to relax, in fact, after we celebrate the first century of Rotary on February 23, 2005, we shall start a new century which is hoped to be as another century of success.
