Ronilo "Nilo" Nepomuceno
Dear fellow Rotarians,
Today is our first meeting for the second quarter of our Rotary Service. As mentioned by DG Joel in the Solid Cavite Clubs Area Meeting last night, the first quarter of every Rotary Year is the most difficult and trying time for any club. And in my honest opinion and assessment, if not the best, at least our club had done good or even better in providing service to our needy fellowmen for the first quarter that passed. So, I congratulate every Rotarian of RC CEPZ for the job well done, but let us keep our enthusiasm to serve, anyways, we had just baked ¼ of the cake.
But officially, we had started the second quarter of our service last October 1, 2004 by holding the 12th week of our feeding program at Tejeros Convention Elem. School. Thanks again to our soup sponsor, Tsukuba Philippine Diecasting Corp. and AG Maeng Mercado (for third consecutive weeks) for the bread. And to those Rotarians who are always there, led of course by Dir. Amy Llave, thank you and I really appreciate your continuous support to the project.
October is Vocational Service Month, in line with this, District 3810 is planning to hold a District Jobs Fair which is intended to help the out-of-school youth and the newly graduates. In our regular meeting last week, we had as guest the Chairperson of the District Jobs Fair and the concurrent Vocational Service Director of RC Chinatown, Rtn. Maricor M. Malitao. Maybe because of our peculiarity in location, being inside of an export processing zone, DG Joel himself suggested to Ms. Maricor that the jobs fair be held in Cavite Economic Zone to be hosted by RC CEPZ. So we had discussed the details last week and we had agreed to hold this on October 11, 2004, a Monday because most of the companies are conducting their hiring during this day. ZA and Rtn. Dante Quindoza had already given his permission to use the CEZ Employment Center for the said project; thank you, Sir!
Also in line with the observance of October as the Vocational Service Month, I would commend RAC CEPZ led by Pres. Grace Labrador, for launching their “Read A Book” project last September 26, 2004. For two Sundays now, the RAC CEPZ members were providing basic reading lesson to the 20 out-of-school youth, with age 5 to 10 yrs. old, of Brgy. Tejeros Convention. I heard that even the parents were trying to learn together with their children. Keep up the good work RAC CEPZ!
On November 13, 2004, RC CEPZ together with RC Cavite East and RC Imus will host the “The Rotary Foundation Seminar” at Casa Marinero in Intramuros, Manila. Basically, the purpose of the seminar is to orient the Rotarians on how the TRF operates and the benefits it gives worldwide. Thanks to AG Maeng and IPP Gabe for being our official representatives to this seminar.
Definitely, the remaining months of this Rotary Year will not be a relaxing time for us, but let us not forget that together with our service, let us continue CELEBRATE ROTARY!
