President's Message

Dear fellow Rotarians,

Last Friday morning, October 8, 2004, we had the initial supply of cutting wastes to Elderly Mutual Benefits System, Inc. (EMBSI) in Area C, Dasmariñas, Cavite. As we had discussed in our previous meetings, EMBSI is an organization of senior citizens registered with Securities and Exchange Commission and a recognized non-government organization of the Municipality of Dasmariñas. Among the many activities of this group is rag sewing since many of their members have sewing machines in their houses. RC CEPZ will adopt and register EMBSI as its Rotary Community Corps (RCC) and through the help of the CEZ Administration; we will provide them regularly the cutting wastes so that they can sustain their rag making activity as one of their livelihood projects. Since PE Ray Nagrampa was their padrino to RC CEPZ, we had appointed PE Ray as the person in-charge of this RCC. My sincerest thanks to those Rotarians who joined me in going to Dasmarinas, IPP Gabe Trias, PP Jess Cabel, PE Ray Nagrampa, Treas. Ony Ferrer, Dir. Amy Llave and Spouse and ZA & Rtn. Dante Quindoza. Even though he was not with us, my special thank also to Rtn. Beda Ponce de Leon for arranging the supply of cutting wastes from different garment factories in the zone. Also, I would like to thank EMBSI led by their Treasurer, Mrs. Dionisia Tamondong for the short program and warm welcome to us.

From Dasmariñas, we went to Tejeros Convention Elementary School for the 13th week of our feeding program. Thanks to our sponsors that day, Rtn. Cyril Salamanque and Sec. Marni Sy who celebrated her birthday last October 6, belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Like AG Maeng, Sec. Marni was only sharing her blessings. Again, I would like to acknowledge the Rotarians who are always present in this weekly activity – AG Maeng Mercado, IPP Gabe Trias, Treas. Ony Ferrer, Dir. Amy Llave and Spouse, and of course our sponsor and celebrant, Sec. Marni Sy.

In behalf of all the officers and members of RC CEPZ, I would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Club Service A Director James Huang, whose wife died last Saturday, October 9, 2004 due to lingering illness brought by cancer. I enjoin everybody to please offer their prayers for the eternal repose of the soul of our departed sister.

In observance of the month of October as the Vocational Service Month, we had lined up some projects such as sponsoring of seminar on safety or environment, plant visits which will be co-sponsored by our Rotaract Clubs, and the launching of the annual search for the Ten Most Outstanding Workers of CEZ. So I am appealing to every one to support all our projects as we continue to CELEBRATE ROTARY!
