RC CEPZ Conducts First Monthly Meeting at Servando's Restaurant

July 27, 2007, Gen. Trias Drive, Rosario, Cavite -  Rotary Club of Cavite Export Processing Zone conducted its first monthly meeting at Servando's Restaurant. As approved by Rotary International's Membership Development Committee, RC CEPZ is now under the observation of RI together with only 200 clubs around the world accepted to participate in the Meeting Frequency Pilot Project identifying the impact a non-weekly meeting frequency has on their membership development activities as well as other club operations.

With 21 members registered, only 14 attended the first meeting.: 11 members and 3 guests. The eleven members led by Sharing President Marni Sy include Star President Gabe Trias, Leader President Amy Reyes-Llave, Sgt.-At-Arms Dick Maza, Centennial President Nilo Nepomuceno, Rtn. Dante Quindoza and Eagle President Maeng Mercado. The 3 guests include former member Ken Wada who is now arranging the Match Club Agreement between RC CEPZ and RC Tahara Pacific of District 2760 - Japan, Mr. Marcos Villa-Agustin IV, a business Development Officer from Sun Cellular who has proposed to be RC CEPZ partner in service, and Mr. Alfredo Damocles, a Philippine Airlines International Pilot.

A. Sharing President Marni reported to the group the following:

  1. Joint Rotaract/Interact Induction Ceremonies held last July 14 at The Village Commercial Center in Rosario, Cavite.

  2. Computer Donation at Rosario National High School last July 20, 2007.

  3. The visit at Bahay San Rafael, Amadeo, Cavite. A support program is being arranged to support the needs of Bahay San Rafael for the whole Rotary Year 2007-2008.

  4. The search of the recipients of this year's Soup Kitchen Feeding Program.
    IPP Amy Llave suggested to conduct the feeding program at Sapa III where she will select 50 participants in the program. August 4 will be the launching of the program where the participants will be registered, weighed and height measured.

  5. Solicitation letter for this year's Souvenir Book will now be distributed to all members.

  6. District Car Raffle promo tickets are now available for sale.

B.  Mr. Ken Wada reported on the visit of RC Tahara Pacific last July 13th where they presented their financial contribution of 100,000 to fund RC CEPZ's several projects. Mr. Wada also reported the intention of RC Tahara Pacific to sign a Match Club Agreement with RC CEPZ.

PP Gabe Trias informed the group of RI's Meeting Frequency Pilot Project which included RC CEPZ as one of only 200 clubs around the world to be accepted in the 6-year pilot program.

Mr. Marcos Villa-Agustin IV proposed that Sun Cellular will be the club's partner in service during Rotary Year 2007-2008. He will present to their management the projects that their company may sponsor.
